A Tale Unfolds
One day, while I was immersed in a song by the Dave Matthews Band titled "Gravedigger," the concept of Galilee struck me. Although the song doesn’t directly relate to the book or the series, it profoundly influenced the atmosphere of my writing journey. This moment coincided with a visit to a quaint fishing village in Point Judith, located in Narragansett, Rhode Island, where the seaport is also named Galilee.
A Brief History
In 1902, the village was named Galilee, inspired by a fisherman from Nova Scotia named Thomas Mann, who believed the emerging fishing community deserved a name reminiscent of the biblical fishing village. One day, while an old fisherman was mending his nets on the docks, a passerby inquired about his location. The old man replied, "Galilee." When the stranger pointed across the channel and asked what lay beyond, the fisherman paused thoughtfully before responding, "must be Jerusalem." This playful exchange solidified the names Galilee and Jerusalem as enduring symbols of this charming corner of Rhode Island.
The Galilee Chronicles is an engaging ten-book series narrated by an elderly priest, who reveals his true identity in the final chapter of the last installment. Enjoy the journey crafted by D.L. Tracey.
